Academic Performance

Close-Knit Staff Dedicated to Nurturing Students

Our staff model compassion, warmth and kindness. They are passionate about preparing all students academically and socially-emotionally for excellence in secondary education and beyond.

Parent Involvement

Parents are super involved. Robust parent engagement provides additional support, inside and outside the classroom. Parents fundraise to provide additional opportunities for students, further enriching their experience. For more information on how parents can get involved, click here.

Focus On the Whole Student

In addition to students that live in our attendance area, the GUSD student population is made up of students that come from 24 other school districts across three counties (Sonoma, Marin, and Lake Counties). Families choose GUSD not only for our academic rigor, but also for our focus on the whole student. This is accomplished through our enrichments, field trips, myriad extracurricular activities, and support of life skill growth and development (social emotional learning).

Smaller Class Sizes

Our average class size is 19.7 (as opposed to state average of 27.3), which means each student can get more individualized attention and group projects allow more participation. It also makes it easier to take students on field trips – which we do frequently, because experiential learning is a key component to a well-rounded education.

Students Can Thrive

All this leads to students who can thrive, as evidenced by their higher test scores. For more information on our assessments and test scores, click here.

“I have found GUSD to be incredibly welcoming and embracing of all students. The teachers and staff have an open attitude that encourages children and families to join in and be a part of the fun-loving, yet academic-driven environment. I have been overwhelmingly impressed with the care, education, and community my child receives/is a part of at GUSD. Thank you so much!”
