Superintendent's Office

Hello Current and Prospective Gravenstein District Families! I feel so fortunate to be superintendent of Gravenstein Union School District (GUSD). Superintendent Dave Rose wearing a Santa hat

Sonoma County is my home, and I am dedicated to providing local children with a marvelous education. I was born and raised in Sonoma County and have lived here virtually all my life. My wife and I raised three children here, and I cannot imagine a better place to live and be a parent. While there are many good districts in Sonoma County, I believe the hard work and partnerships between our amazing staff and engaged parents make GUSD the best school district in Sonoma County.

My educational and career experiences have all taken place here in Northern California. At UC Davis, I earned my bachelor’s degree in human development from UC Davis. At Chapman University, I earned my teaching and administrative credentials, as well as a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. After starting my career with seven years as a Parks and Recreation program manager, I have spent the last 28 years in education as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, coordinator, director, and assistant superintendent. I have been the superintendent since 2018.

I cannot imagine a more rewarding career where I am surrounded by educators and families who are deeply invested in continually working together to make our students’ education meaningful, pertinent, and of the highest calibur.

Thank you for your interest in our schools.
